The race to the White House this year now has a new competitor hip-hop star and Rapper Kanye West has thrown his hat into the ring. He took to Twitter to announce that he was running for the President of the United States this year the tweet gained immense traction on social media.
He wrote “We must now realize the promise of America bu trusting God, unifying our vision and building our future. Iam running for President of the United States.”
Within an hour it was retweeted more than a hundred thousand times, West also picked up an immediate endorsement from Tesla chief Elon Musk must reply to the tweets saying you have my full support. While the announcement created quite a storm in the media and political circles it is not clear where West has actually filed any official paperwork in this regard apart from this there are many things left unclear.
First which party is going to promote West’s as Candidate? the Republicans have their incumbent president Donald Trump fighting for reelection while the other major party the Democrats have decided their candidate is Joe Biden.
The talk in political circles is that West might be looking to tap into the black people’s vote, and this seems to have been consolidated in the light of the recent black lives matter protests but his journey on that where it seems to to have full roadblocks, first black people in America have almost unanimously backed Democrats and there doesn’t seem to be much reason for black people to transfer their vote to a person who is seemingly a rookie, the second thing is that Kanye West’s own projection of himself within the past has made statements like slavery is a choice.
Interestingly, these comments were made while West was expressing his support for President Donald Trump, West has said that Trump cares about the way black people feel about him and that black people should take a liking to Trump. During an on record meeting with Donald Trump in the White House, West said ” I love this Guy” wearing a cap reading makes America great again.
But his endorsement could come back to haunt west as he looks on to compete against Trump. President Trump has recently faced severe backlash for his comments made against the black lives matter protests, Kanye West however seems to be Un-flattered by all this and he has made the big statement possibly not without much deliberation.
