Bridger Walker is a 6-year-old boy who stopped a dog from attacking his baby sister, many celebs got word of the heroic act and are sending him sweet messages in awe of his bravery. Earlier this week, Bridger’s story went viral after it was revealed that he was playing in his friend’s backyard.
As they entered the yard, the child that was with them pointed at the family’s two dogs, describing them as the ‘nice dog’ and the ‘mean dog.’ At that moment, the ‘mean dog’ began running after them, Bridger Walker told in an interview “I stepped to the side, in front of my sister so that the dog wouldn’t get her. I kept moving so it couldn’t get past.”
Instead of running off, the dog lept and latched onto Bridger’s cheek, which caused him to undergo a two-hour surgery and facial reconstruction, held together with 90 stitches. Furthermore, While in the hospital, Bridger’s father recalls one of the hardest moments throughout the entire incident, as Bridger continued to detail what happened to which his father asked why he did that.
Bridger replied, “If someone had to die, I thought it should be me.” By the request of Bridger’s parents, his aunt has been keeping fans updated on his recovery via Instagram, when she revealed that nobody, not even Bridger, feels resentment toward the dog or its owners.
She also said, “His wounds are looking so much better! He’s in great spirits, and his awesome personality is intact. He can’t smile too widely yet, but he was grinning as I read some of your comments to him. I’d also like to mention here that the dog’s owners are really great people who have been nothing but kind to Bridger and his family.”
In her first update, Bridger’s aunt also tagged many celebrities, most notably the ones who play the famous Avengers in the Marvel films, adding QUOTE, “I know it’s a long shot, but I’m reaching out to the Avengers and other heroes so that they can learn about this latest addition to their ranks.”
In a matter of hours, many celebrities began sending love and well wishes to Bridger, and praising his bravery. Brie Larson, who plays Captain Marvel, commented that she’d be DMing Bridger’s family.
Later, Mark Ruffalo, who plays the Hulk in the popular Avengers series, commented on the original post, saying, “DearBridger, I just read about what happened to you and I wanted to reach out to say this… People who put the well beings of others in front of themselves are the most heroic and thoughtful people I know. I truly respect and admire your courage and your heart. Real courage is knowing what is right to do and doing it even when it might end up hurting you somehow. You are more of a man than many, many I have seen or known. With Admiration… Mark Ruffalo (Bruce Banner/Hulk/Professor).”
Bridger even received a message from Thor, AKA Chris Hemsworth, himself, who recorded a lengthy message via Instagram stories. “I just wanna say, mate, you’re an absolute inspiration. Your courage is beyond belief and we are all so impressed by you, and we’re thinking of you. I know you’re an Avengers fan, and so, myself and all the team… we’d be honored to have you on the team!”
Captain America, played by Chris Evans, also sent Bridger a sweet message, to which his aunt recorded him watching while wearing his Captain America suit. “Pal, what you did was so brave, so selfless. Your sister is so lucky to have you as a big brother. Your parents must be so proud of you!”
Furthermore, Chris went on to say that he would be tracking down Bridger’s address to send him an authentic Captain America shield, and to “keep being the man you are; we need people like you.” In the video, he said “I’m going to send you an authentic Captain America shield because pal you deserve it. Keep being the man that you are, we need people like you.”
